Workshop FAQ

1) Parents of elementary-age children who are either 

• working full time and have childcare support they manage (meaning they can suggest schedules and structures for those caregivers, nannies, and babysitters) OR
•  working part-time and have childcare support they manage OR
• home with their children

2) Caregivers of elementary-age children who are

• responsible for creating schedules and structures for learning activities for families they support

The summer learning blueprint is an intentionally co-created (with kids where possible) design which is:

• Part schedule and activity list
• Part resource guide
• Part progress tracker
• Personalized in our workshop for your specific context (your kid(s), their interests, your resources, your values). 

The "summer slide" refers to the decline in academic skills that many children experience during the summer months when school is not in session. Essentially, without regular practice, skills like reading and math can weaken, leading to a potential setback when school resumes.

Engaging children in summer learning activities, such as summer reading programs, educational camps, and even consistent reading at home, can significantly mitigate the effects of the summer slide. Research suggests that such activities do not need to be intensive or costly to be effective.

Whether you have 30 minutes a day or all day for your kiddos to participate in the learning blueprint activities I will show you how to adapt and personalize the blueprint to work for your context during the workshop.

No problem. You can use the summer learning blueprint with as many kiddos as you will be taking care of. You will receive a template copy of the blueprint which you can make additional copies of.

I just ask that you do not share it beyond those who are attending the workshop, please. 

I'll be using a virtual meeting tool called Butter. It works like Zoom and includes interactive features to allow us to collaborate in hands-on live activities during the virtual workshop. 

This is not a "sit and get" webinar.

To get the full value of our time together you will be doing the activities and reflections.

You will create your summer learning blueprint during the workshop.

So don't join while driving, getting hair extensions, or anything else where you aren't at your computer and able to pull up Google Docs and participate. OK??
